BEAUTY AND THE MECHANIC (CHAPTER ONE) by SERAH IYARE

Efosa embraced his wife and beamed with joy. It was their tenth wedding Anniversary. It was also his forty-fifth birthday and her thirty-fifth birthday. His parents and siblings, inclusive her parents and siblings were in Lagos to celebrate with them. It was a private party, just them and their immediate families. God had given them a beautiful nine-year-old girl, Edua and his wife was seven months pregnant with their twin boys. When they found out a month ago, after her scan at the Ante-natal clinic, their joy had known no bounds. They had been praying to God to bless them with another child since the birth of their daughter. At a point, they lost hope. Just when they were about to give up completely, and while contemplating adopting a child, God surprised them with a miracle pregnancy and it turned out to be twin boys. SOCIAL MEDIA OVER-SABI

Sometimes, I marvel at the level at which we over do things in this side of the world. Nigerians, in particular, we over react on things that are of little or no significance at all. I don't know if this is due to what we are going through as an individual or as l a nation generally. S (male) does something.. We see it as normal. K (female) does the same thing... We see it as stupid. D (male) does something.... We see it as excellent F (female) does the same thing.... We see it as absurd. What's wrong with us? We tend to hide behind our keyboards (and keypads) firing missiles into the social media. Wars we can never take on physically. Some people are so extreme to the extent that they don't see the sarcasm and fun in social media-ing. They take everything too serious, why? We can't be having a work and stress-ful day in the virtual world and still come to the on the internet to stress the brain....its just not right. And the extremists, condemning
